Home James Caledon chooses Connect Public Safety to Provide New Dispatch Centre Hardware, Software a
In 2012 a new holiday designated drivers service was designed in the Town of Caledon and Municipality of Chatham-Kent in Ontario. Connect Public Safety was involved from the very start of the design process for this volunteer organization and we have not left them since. Previously both were running a very similar service however operated under a different name.
Since the new service has been designed and been operating only during the holiday season from Mid-November until New Years every year, Connect has changed the way the dispatch functions are performed at their Headquarters in Bolton, ON. Previously they operated in a very redundant and time consuming manner before any team was dispatched on calls. This impeded the quality in the growing number of calls the organization was receiving each year.
As such, Connect was used to design and implement new dispatch protocols and hardware. Connect offered a full range of hardware options that included a call centre PBX IP Phone system, CAD software, Wide-Area Trunked Digital radio system including AVL and data systems, and in office hardware/systems networking infrastructure.
Key Facts:
• Home James Caledon services a population of approx. 60,000 and growing which required dispatch operations to expand in 2012 to facilitate the roughly 400 calls in the month of operation only operating Friday and Saturday nights.
• Required a CAD system that is easily customizable to meet the changing the needs of the organization and the unique operations they run to provide a more streamline and effective system.
• Call Centre phone system with ACD (Automatic Call Distribution) to available call takers which is simultaneously tied into the phone system of the whole organization including volunteer office staff, on call technicians, and supervisors.
• Fast and easy training for volunteer dispatch staff and 24/7 support.
